Google Bombing and Choice between Inbound Links and Keyword Optimization

Filed under: Search Engine Optimization Infos — @ 2:45 am

The complexity of search engines like google gets confirmed with the diverse suggestions given by SEO specialists and the search results themselves.

The gap between theory and practice gets widened as we see that “keyword optimization” is not everything….after all. The answer lies in having as many inbound links as possible and..let’s face it…nobody can deny the rationale behind a higher rank for a larger number of inbound links with proper tags to follow suit.

Google’s algorithm is perfectly done and the search results only reflect the complexity of the whole exercise…and google is where it is….at No 1.

Can the search engine be blamed for “google bombing” and what can the search engine do about it ? Can the No. 1 search engine do anything in the first place ? These questions crop up when a seemingly harmless search for “miserable failure” in the search engine gives an output which you or I won’t ever imagine will find a No 1 position at the No 1 search engine.

The result: http://www.whitehouse.gov/president/gwbbio.html When you point your browser to this page, it will lead to the United States President, George Bush’s biography and I presume that this webpage is obviously not “keyword optimized” for “miserable failure”.

This is the result of google bombing and at the same time, it is the result of a large number of inbound links to this webpage with “miserable failure” as the subject tag.

Let’s look at it both ways. The No 1 search engine obviously has sound logic as is evident from the fact that a large number of websites link to a particular webpage only if it is popular. It is a different matter that popularity can sometimes fall flat on the face as is refelected in this example.

The second way we can look at the validity of large number of inbound links is that the search results may not be what one expects….. after all. Can somebody do anything about it ? Is it possible to differentiate between “positive popularity” and “negative popularity” in terms of search engine rankings ? Can a group of web users or a small community target a website with “negative keywords” ? Can a well-knit community shape the rankings of a website ?

Is a sound linking strategy the holy grail for higher search engine rankings ? Has “keyword optimization” run it’s course ? Will the search engines alter their algorithm to reflect “positive keywords” and “negative keywords” ?

These are the million dollar questions …and we are waiting for the answers…Mr. Google or should we ask the SEO experts for the answers ?

Deadly Poker Sins

Filed under: A Funny Farm, Free Games + More, Gambling Fortunes — @ 1:19 pm

You’ve probably been raised to refrain from touching other people’s property without permission. Good for you. It’s surprising, then, to realize how many people will violate this rule without pause in the game of poker. Now, keep in mind, it’s usually people on the fringe (newbies and jerks) who commit these two heinous poker sins, but be sure that you don’t inadvertently commit one. Ever.

Deadly Sin: Knocking over someone else’s chip stack. That’s just rude. It takes time, skill, and a little luck to earn enough chips to make a decent stack, and a creative or well-organized stack is like an anchor keeping you in the game. It’s your self-esteem in physical form. Knocking down another guy’s poker chip stack is the psychological equivalent to an unprovoked kick in the crotch. Avoid it at all costs.

Deadly Sin: Revealing another guy’s cards. Most of the time it’s accidental-someone is gathering up cards and flips yours over by accident, but sometimes it’s done on purpose-some new guy thinks it’s okay to peek once the hand is over, or some jerk thinks that it’s funny to pick up another person’s cards after the hand to see what he had. This is NOT okay-poker is a game of secrets, and those secrets pertain to the two cards in front of you. One of your biggest weapons is your secrecy. Did you have the cards, or were you bluffing? Are you playing loose, tight, or reckless and random? When people don’t know how you’re playing, they won’t know how to play against you. So when some ignoramus grabs your cards after an especially daring bluff and everyone sees that you played rags, one of your greatest weapons is taken away. This is a guaranteed beat-down. Or it should be.

5 Little Known Benefits of Warming Up & Cooling Down After Exercising

Filed under: Shopping Parlor — @ 11:16 am

While working out in the gym, I have noticed that many exercisers
tend to skip two very important parts of their workout. It is
crucial that exercisers starts with a warm-up and ends with a
cool-down. As a fitness educator, I educate my clients of why
they should include warm-ups and cool-downs in their workouts.

Warm up before vigorous exercise is crucial. Warm-up prepares
the heart muscle and circulatory system. When you start physical
activity, blood flow is not immediately available to the heart
and muscles. A proper warm-up decreases the risk of irregular
heartbeats associated with poor coronary circulation. A proper
warm-up also improve performance, since it minimizes the
premature formation of lactic acid at the start of physical
activity. In addition, warming up raises the temperature of the
body. For each degree of temperature elevation, the metabolic
rate of the cells increases by about 13 percent.

Another reason is warming up helps prevents injuries. Muscle
elasticity and the flexibility of the tendons and ligaments are
increased. Synovial fluid, which lubricates the joints, is
released during easy activity. In general, warm up prepares the
body for the increased demand of intense exercise.

Warm-ups activities are movement activities. Stretching is not a
warm-up exercise because it does not raise the body temperature.
In fact, an exerciser can tear cold muscles by stretching them.

General warm-up involves calisthenics, stretching, and general
body movements such as slow jog followed by a light streth.Warm
up for about 5-10 minutes depending on the person’s fitness level
followed by some light stretching.

Specific warm-up, on the other hand, provides a skill rehearsal
for the actual activity. Swinging a golf club, throwing a
baseball or football are examples of specific warm-up.

I have been working out in a health club setting for almost 10
years. In my experience, I hardly seen anyone do a cool-down
activity. Cool down is also as important as a warm-up. After a
heavy work-out, it is important to spend 5-10 minutes in a cool
down stage. A cool down after the workout is important to
promote an effective recovery from physical activity. Some of
the benefits of a cool down are listed below:

1. The opposite of a warm-up. Respiration, body temperature,and
heart rate are gradually returned to normal, preventing an
irregular beat the may be life threatening.

2. During the cool-down stage, the legs help return the blood to
your heart. Muscle in the legs acts as a pump to bring blood
back to the heart. Suddenly stopping cardiovascular activity
causes blood to pool in the legs instead of circulating to the
brain. Not enough supply of blood in the brain can cause
dizziness or light-headedness.

4. Cool-down can help increase a person’s flexibility.

5. Active cool-down also speeds lactate removal from the blood.

There are two parts of a cool-down. First, a person does a light
cardiovascular activity such as walking to lower the heart rate,
body temperature, etc. Then, static stretching should be
followed. Exercisers should stretch all the major muscle groups
for at least 10-30 seconds. The stretch should feel a slight
discomfort but not feel pain. Stretching at the end of the
cool-down can help increase flexibility without causing injury.

Add a warm-up and cool-down to your current exercise regimen and
see the difference.
