Marketing to Social Networking Sites

Social bookmarking sites are a fairly new phenomenon on the internet. The idea of social bookmarking is that you can add a webpage that you found interesting, this makes the page public to all others using the site and they can then add this page to their favorites.

There are many advantages to using social bookmark sites over using your favorites or bookmarks in Internet Explorer or Firefox but at this point I myself only use them some and they are far from replacing my favorites on my PC or laptop so they will still take a little getting used to. The advantages of these bookmarks is access, you save these websites from your local computer and then no matter where you go, what browser you use and what operating system you have you can still get to these sites with any internet connection.

As a marketer you can put up information on the internet that is very interesting to you and your customers and then bookmark the page and let others see if they find it interesting or not. If others do find this interesting then you can potentially get an avalanche of traffic to your site. The most important thing at this time is to have a good subject and some kind of technological bent to your article to make it interesting to all of us geeks out there.

One extension of this concept is the new Web 2.0 style news sites such as Digg, Reddit, and Shoutwire and these post may be picked up by newsvine or tailrank, just add a .com to the end of these names to reach the site. With these new news sites you can post the address and maybe some info about your page and then the whole group of people will recommend up or down the page and this can send you traffic instantly over a few hours or not if people do not like the content.

I need to be very clear as I write this that there is no way that you can abuse the concept of content with this new style of social bookmarking sites as your article will be banned and people will immediately moderate your post down so that it is never seen. The most important thing on these sites is quality of content. Another thing to know about these social bookmarking sites is that the people that frequent these sites can be a very fickle crowd. In the past I have put up high quality and not so high quality articles about many different subjects and sometimes people visit in droves while with other articles you can sometimes be completely ignored.

Be assured that if you need a good web host using these programs as things move very quickly and can bring you great traffic but if you do not have a good host then you can easily be taken down by a storm of traffic. With my best articles I have had 6,000 to 10,000 visitors in a single day.

These are my top tips to get people interested in reading your article

1. Make a list like a top 7 or top 10 or top 20 type list. People like lists and this system goes a long way to getting people interested in taking the time to click the link.
2. Make your title interesting to readers. How does this benefit them? Will this information make them feel better, smarter or soothe their ego? Is this an article that may change their lives? It is critical to make sure the title is good as on a site like Reddit this is all people have to see to decide to visit.
3. If you can have a description like with Digg then make sure you make the most out of two or three sentences. You may be able to use more space but remember people at this site are scanning through 50 or so stories and will just glaze over after they read the first sentence.

Now you would probably like to check these sites out for yourself and you will find that with almost all of these sites you can sign up and start to use them instantly and have to give them only a username, password and an email address. To start with you can try the following popular sites. For purely bookmarking services you can try delicious and delirious and for news type sites my favorites are Digg, Reddit and Shoutwire.

Success Through The Eyes Of A Child

Filed under: Beyond Cats — @ 3:11 am

Adults, with eyes to see, can learn so much about success in life from children.
When a baby is born, it has instinctively in it everything needed to succeed in life. A child is like a fresh piece of canvas, ready to become a unique contribution to the world. A child has had less exposure to adult conditioning with regards to behaviour and expectations. Every child has the seeds of success for life within them. By observing children being children, adults can re-learn principles of success that have been buried by their adult world.

As I was driving home last week, I noticed a little boy and his mother by the side of the road. They had stopped walking and the mother was adjusting a toy crossbow to fit more comfortably over the boy’s shoulder. I realized that at that moment in the heart and mind of that small boy, he was not on a sidewalk by a busy road. Perhaps he was hunting in a forest, or was an intrepid explorer of the unknown, ready to pull out his bow and arrows at the slightest hint of danger. In his imagination he was a hero, confident, skilled, and brave. He was alert, prepared, with the expectation of overcoming danger or threat with his skill and swift reflexes.

For a child involved in imaginative play, there is very little distinction between fantasy and reality. Children live and play out their dreams totally in the moment.

There are many principles of success that can be learned by looking through the eyes of a child. Children’s eyes see with clarity and perception and reflect the reality of who they are. Children are uncluttered by training, brainwashing, and by living according to the unwritten rules and etiquette that have assailed the adult mind. For a child life has limitless possibilities that have not been squashed by logic, common sense, or limiting expectations that become part of the adult mind.

What principle of success can be drawn from the little boy with his bow and arrow?

One of the most powerful and yet unused principles of success is the process of visualization. Visualization is the act of creating compelling and vivid pictures in your mind. This is just what the little boy was doing. He was “that hero”; he acted like him, dressed like him, and could picture himself in another time and another place. For him, it seemed like reality. This is a spontaneous, natural process for a child.

Researchers have found that visualization accelerates achievement in powerful ways. It has been proved by research that when performing any task in life the brain uses the same identical processes that it would if you were only vividly visualizing that activity. The brain sees no difference at all between visualizing something and actually doing it.

This principle also is applicable when a person is learning something new. Visualization makes the brain achieve more. In a study by researchers at Harvard University, it was found that students who visualized in advance were able to perform tasks with nearly 100 percent accuracy. Students who performed tasks without using visualization only achieved 55 percent accuracy.

Visualization is frequently used by Olympic and professional athletes to improve performance.
Jack Nicklaus, a legend in the golfing world, once described how he uses visualization. “I never hit a shot, not even in practice, without having a very sharp in-focus picture of it in my head. It’s like a color movie. First I “see” where I want it to finish, nice and white and sitting high on the bright green grass. Then the scene quickly changes, and I “see” the ball going there: its path, trajectory, and shape, even its behaviour on landing. Then there’s a sort of fade out, and the next scene shows me making the kind of swing that will turn the previous images into reality.” The results of the power of visualization for Jack Nicklaus are convincing: he has won over 100 tournaments earning over 5.7 million in the process.

For a child a high proportion of time is spent in visualization. Adults may say, “He’s only playing” and not see the potential power for success that the child is practicing. Visualization is a process that is naturally strong in the learning and formative years of the child. Research now confirms that visualization activates the creative powers of the subconscious mind. It focuses the brain by programming its reticular activating system (RAS) to notice available resources that were always there but previously unnoticed. Visualization, incredibly, also magnetizes and attracts you to the people, resources, and opportunities you need to achieve your goal.

Next time you see children playing, pause to watch visualization in its purest form. What can you learn and apply to your own life to accelerate and achieve greater success using the principle of visualization?

Bad Credit Mortgage: How to Avoid Predatory Lenders

Filed under: Real Estate Management — @ 7:26 pm

If you are an individual with a poor credit rating and are looking for a mortgage, there are scammers that want to take advantage of you. These “Predatory Mortgage Lenders” take advantage of your situation by overcharging you or structuring the mortgage so they will foreclose and take your home. Here is what you need to know to avoid being taken advantage of by a Predatory Mortgage Lender.

A predatory mortgage lender is any lender that takes advantage of a homeowner’s situation. These lenders prey on borrowers that do not know they are being taken advantage of. Often individuals with poor credit are eager to secure financing and are easily swayed by the tactics these lenders practice. The best thing you can do to avoid being taken advantage of is to be realistic with your expectations. If you know your credit is bad and a lender is promising low rates and easy qualification, you should question this lenders motivation. Any lender or broker that is pressuring you with sales tactics such as an “only chance offer,” consider it too good to be true. Here are tips to help you avoid predatory mortgage lenders.

Do Your Homework First

By doing your homework and researching mortgage lenders you will be able to avoid advantageous mortgage lenders. In the United States you are protected under the RESPA act of 1974 even if you have poor credit. Registering for a free mortgage guidebook using the links below will help you get started.

Use a Mortgage Broker

If you have a bad credit rating using a mortgage broker could help you find the best mortgage offer. You still need to carefully compare all aspects of the mortgage offers you consider; however, a broker could have access to bad credit mortgage lenders you might not find on your own.

Carefully Compare Mortgage Offers

You need to compare all aspects of the mortgage offers you consider, not just the interest rate. One common homeowner mistake is not comparison shopping for closing costs. If you do not shop beyond the interest rate it is easy to overpay thousands of dollars for your mortgage loan.

Never Sign Blank Documents

If a mortgage lender or broker asks you to sign a blank or incomplete document, take this as a sign they are not being honest with you. If you sign a blank or incomplete document the lender or broker can fill in anything they like and you have already agreed to it. Also, never sign anything agreeing to arbitration for settling disputes. Agreeing to arbitration severely limits your legal rights if there is ever a problem that needs legal action.

Daily Menu of a Health-building and Vitalising Diet

Filed under: Living With Nutrition — @ 6:10 pm

Based on what has been stated above, the daily menu of a health-building and vitalising diet should be on the following lines:

Upon arising: A glass of lukewarm water mixed with the juice of a half a lemon and a
teaspoon of honey, or a glass of freshly squeezed juice of any available seasonable fruit such as
apple, pineapple, orange, sweet lime, and grapes.

Breakfast: Fresh fruits such as apple, orange, banana, grapes, or any available seasonal
fruits, a cup of butter-milk or unpasteurised milk and a handful of raw nuts or a couple of
tablespoons of sunflower and pumpkin seeds.

Mid-morning snack: One apple or a banana or any other fruit.

Lunch: A bowl of freshly prepared steamed vegetables using salt, vegetable oil and butter for
seasoning, one or two slices of whole grain bread or chappatis and a glass of butter-milk.
Mid-afternoon : A glass of fresh fruit or vegetable juice or any available fruit.

Dinner: A large bowl of fresh salad made up of green vegetables, such as tomatoes, carrot,
cabbage, cucumber, red beet and onion with lime juice dressing, any available sprouts such as
alfalfa seeds, and mung beans, a warm vegetable course, if desired, one tablespoon of fresh
butter, cottage cheese, or a glass of butter-milk.

The above menu is a general outline around which an individual diet can be built. It can be
modified and changed to adopt to specific requirements and conditions. The menu for lunch and
dinner is interchangeable.

Do not drink liquids with meals. The water should be taken half an hour before meals or an hour
after meals. Milk, buttermilk, and vegetable soups are foods and can be taken with meals.

Unravelling the Mystery of How to Replace an Old Garage

Filed under: World Of Home Improvement — @ 4:42 pm

You have decided that you want a new concrete garage, but before you choose the paint for your new garage door, don’t forget that you will need to arrange for the old garage to be removed and the base for the new garage to be laid or repaired.

At this point your local Compton Buildings agent can become your best friend. When you are looking for your new garage, ask the agent for their base laying service, or for advice on removing your old garage.

Just because there was a garage there before, it doesn’t necessarily follow that the foundations will be suitable for your new garage. Concrete garages are much heavier than timber or corrugated iron garages, and so they will need a stronger concrete base. Your agent or local builder should be able to offer you advice on this and help arrange to have a new base laid if necessary.

Any building is only as good as its foundations and you’ll need a concrete base, which is designed to suit local soil conditions. It should stand slightly higher than the surrounding ground so that water does not drain from the ground onto the base, where it could get under the garage panels causing problems with damp.

A damp proof membrane cast into the base is also a good preventative measure. Your local builders merchant can provide this - and you will need to ask for 1000g heavy-duty polythene.

It might sound obvious, but the garage base should be flat and square. Compton garage panels are rectangular and cannot be bent to fit a base that is not level. To check whether the base is square, measure the diagonals. If they are the same, then your base is square.

Reputable agents should offer a free site survey with no obligation to buy, as well as discussing your choice of garage with you to make sure it is right for your home. Don’t forget to ask about maintenance free options - they will save hours of work in future. As well as helping to arrange for your garage base to be built, they can also help you with the planning permission forms - if they are needed.

In the vast majority of cases for sheds, garages, conservatories and greenhouses, you will not need to apply for planning permission. However, it’s best to check out the planning regulations at the outset, rather than installing your new garage only to find out - too late - that you did need planning permission.

As a general guide, if more than half the land around your house will be covered by the garage, or if the new building will be more than three metres high (or four metres if it has a ridged roof), then you will need permission. Also, if your house is a listed building or in a conservation area, or if the new building will be used for business, you should check out the regulations.

The Planning Department of your local council will be able to tell you whether or not you need permission to build a garage. Compton Garages and Buildings supplies detailed plans of the complete range or garages at no extra cost. It is useful to take along a sketch or plan of the proposed garage to the Planning Department, but again your dealer should be able to help you with all these details.

More information about planning permission and building regulations can be found on the Compton Buildings website www.comptonbuildings.co.uk

Most people who are looking to buy a new garage go to a local dealer because they really need have a good look at the building, inside and out, before they spend any money. It’s best not to rely on the brochure for a true picture of the garage, but instead see for yourself the space and features available, such as doors, windows and finishes, as not all concrete garages are the same. It’s a good idea to use a local dealer so that you can make as many visits as you need and have more time to think about your choice. What else of this value would you buy from a brochure without seeing it first?

Neil O’Sullivan is Compton Buildings’ Marketing Manager. Compton are the UKs largest manufacturer of concrete garages and buildings, delivering & installing around 8000 buildings each year. All buildings have a 10 year guarantee backed by an exclusive Customer Care Promise.

The Compton website http://www.comptonbuildings.co.uk provides links to local agents and answers to all the questions you might have about garages. In a recent survey, customers gave Compton top marks for both customer service and quality.

Josephus Called Jesus a Bandit

Filed under: Religious Studies — @ 1:47 pm

You might already know about the Essene Templars and how they tell their initiates that they are not connected to Masonry at the early stages of their indoctrination. One such person who has read a lot of my work discussed it with the Essene Patriarch who supported much of what I said about their origins. So when I say Templars I include pre-Christian derivatives of the Mystery Schools that have always had differing names, symbols, icons, effigy mounds, logos, and associations. Most of the rituals remain connected to ancient guilds and priestcraft to be sure.

Stonehenge, Cholula and the Ka’aba of Mecca are ever-present reminders of what knowledge and power lie dormant in the macrochips of metal or rocks. The Kensington Runestone is a touchstone to gain insight into how perverse the academics can be. Hanno left a stone in New England that tells of 30,000 men brought to America before Jesus adopted the moniker of Christ or Christos (if he ever did). The Melungeons near the mounds of Pennsylvania might be the reason Columbus brought an Arabic (Berber) translator on his third trip to America rather than the Ogham-based Hebrew scholar he had on his first voyage. The Bat Creek Nine left the Roman Collosseum and its lions to other Christians, but the archaeologists who found their skeletons held the nearby rock upside down and thought it was Cherokee rather than Judaic or Semitic script according to a top linguist named Cyrus Gordon who has written extensively about the European and America cross-pollinations. All of these things are just recent history when compared with the 250,000 year-old Mexican human artifacts or Leakey’s 200,000 year old arrowheads from the shores of the old Salton Sea.

Needless to say if this giant of archaeology would be ridiculed for such evidence, so will I. Dr. Lee and his boss at the National Museum of Canada lost their livelihood and suffered persecution for telling what they thought about the Manitoulin Island quarries dating to 130,000 years ago. But there is so much evidence now that the hegemony must begin to adapt and admit their errors. It isn’t really likely that it was just a matter of simple errors of lack of information when you consider the ancient authors like Strabo, Herodotus and Plutarch as well as Plato and many more told these same stories; even if they did have less hard evidence. All the writers who wrote about circumnavigating Libya on two or three year voyages are likely talking about voyages to the Americas. We don’t care if it was pseudo-Aristotle or Hammilco - the stories have the ring of truth simply because it was possible and men are adventurous and courageous enough to try it. The hard evidence is not explainable by any other method.

In Crossan’s excellent and open-minded book called The Historical Jesus, I see room for another speculation about Jesus and the likelihood of Jewish writing found in Cherokee country or Tennessee. Gordon ties it in with the Christians and Lions treatment of Rome, but this could have been going on amongst seafarers like the Kelts and Druids for long before that or even Rome. Freedom-seeking mariners might well have left the Mediterranean for the Americas for safer places if for no other reason. This book mentions a Jesus who was head of the brigands or bandits in the time of Josephus and a deal to co-opt these 800 mercenaries or thieves that Josephus made a deal with. Could there have been many Jesuses and the one we amalgamate into Jesus from a non-existent town (name in no records) of Nazareth; whose actual name appears to be Yeshua bar Joseph?

“I conclude, therefore, that a widespread revolt of peasantry spearheaded by banditry took place in 52 C.E., that Josephus suppressed it much more in Jewish War than in Jewish Antiquities, and that Quadratus came south, as Tacitus said, to quell an insurrection and not just to adjudicate a complaint. In plain language, the First Roman-Jewish War almost started in 52 C.E., and it almost started among peasants and bandits rather than among aristocrats and retainers. But since, in Roman eyes, those latter were responsible for keeping order, saving them might well have meant gaining the support of Pallas, for which the price was Felix his brother as next procurator. That might also explain why Jewish Antiquities 20.162 records tensions between Jonathan and Felix, even though, as it says demurely, he himself ‘had requested [Claudius] Caesar to dispatch Felix as a procurator of Judaea.’ Those, of course, are guesses, but guesses warranted by discrepancies in the records.

Be that as it may, and whatever the reasons, Felix went out as governor of Palestine between 52 and 60 C.E. Josephus mentions banditry twice during his rule, and, in each case, one but not the other of his parallel texts combines and confuses bandits with prophets. But, as seen earlier, it is necessary to ignore any mention of prophets or: as Josephus prefers to call them, ‘imposters’ and ‘deceivers,’…” (7)

Ten Ways NOT to Set Up a Website-based Service Business

Filed under: Web Stuff — @ 12:18 pm

1. As the first step, “Hire a web designer.”

First create a storyboard of your website, based on your strategy.

2. Focus on graphics, typefaces and colors.

Focus on potential clients and customers.

3. Avoid anything that has to do with “strategy.”

Spend more time on strategy than on website design.

4. Rely on your web designer for all the updates.

Only if your designer is also your significant other! You may need to make changes as often as once a day. Even if you have infinite financial resources, your designer may not have infinite time for you.

5. Avoid learning HTML.

You need a smattering of HTML even if you use a package. If something goes wrong, you’ll save time if you can take a quick peek at the source code.

6. Take a course in web design after your site has gone public.

You may not need a course. Begin with a practice website, using a free package like Netscape’s Composer, or PageMill, which has been bundled with iMacs. Most ISP’s offer free websites for personal use. Don’t use the “quick design” option: Write your own code and practice uploading!

7. Rely on submitting your name to search engines to generate traffic.

Supplement by submitting content to popular sties.

8. Refuse to pay for a pro to help with writing web content.
If your strength lies in pictoral or oral communication, get help! Words count.

9. Ignore your competitive websites.

Don’t steal what’s copyrighted, but learn from everybody else.

10. Create a concept that requires more than three sentences to explain.

You’re lucky if your audience listens beyond the first sentence.

Tips for Avoiding Bankruptcy

Filed under: Internet Finance — @ 2:50 am

Why shouldn’t you file bankruptcy? The most obvious reason for not doing so is because you don’t want the black mark on your credit record for the long term. The other reason for not filing is because there are several ways you can get out of debt without filing that are often less costly, less time consuming and require less legal work. If you haven’t worked on getting out of debt without filing bankruptcy, consider alternatives like bankruptcy prevention services.

One way to avoid bankruptcy is to work with an agency that offers debt counseling. These professionals will work with you to find a plan of action. They will contact your lenders, talk to them about lowering interest rates, and stop the creditors from calling you. They will help you with a budget and they may teach some excellent credit management skills, too. Best of all, these organizations can help you pay off your debt in a matter of months for many people.

Avoiding bankruptcy is an option that you have. The goal you have is to get out of debt. By organizing your debts, working with your lenders to lower interest rates, and helping you to avoid costly legal fees, these counseling services seem to be the best option available to most.

Sanford And Son (Season 3) DVD Review

Filed under: Movie Center — @ 3:59 am

Set in the Watts district of Los Angeles, Sanford And Son centers around the life of Fred Sanford (Redd Foxx), a 65-year-old African-American antiques dealer. Fred lives with, and shares the business with, his 34-year-old son Lamont (Demond Wilson). One of the first TV sitcoms to completely revolve around African-American characters, Sanford And Son showcased the comic genius of Redd Foxx with every episode.
