Document Scanning

Filed under: Great Management Tips — @ 6:33 pm

The onset of modern technology has finally given way to document scanning. Images, text files, old documents and the likes are recovered, retrieved and archived –once deemed impossible. The days of yore proved to be very slow-paced. But document scanning has changed the way offices are run.

By definition, document scanning is the process of transferring one document or text from its paper form onto a computer screen. More specifically, document scanning is the method of converting an analog fact or record into a digital data. Meaning, it becomes data that the computer system can read.

Document scanning makes things easier — an old document that has become yellowish in form, crumpled and stained, but it can be recovered and remedied by means of document scanning.

Tools used for document scanning

First, you will need a computer that has a document scanning system. In contrast to the rest of the computer system, document scanning systems are far cheaper. The equipment must produce crisp and clear images and ought to possess a clear eye for the minutest detail that you will need to capture.

Document scanning in action

The documents that have been scanned first take the form of images rather than words. They are converted to an actual text that becomes readable through the aid of an optical character recognition program. It is known as the predictive optical word recognition or POWR.

These days, document scanning is widely used in all businesses. Not only is this method accurate and easy but is affordable as well.

Document Scanning provides detailed information on Document Scanning, Document Scanning Software, Document Scanning Services, Document Data Entry Scanning and more. Document Scanning is affiliated with Document Management System Software.

Why Did Jellicoe Turn Away at the Battle of Jutland?

At the time the First World War, the British Grand Fleet was the most formidable naval force in the world. Commanded by Admiral John Jellicoe, the British Grand Fleet hoped to engage the German High Seas Fleet in a pitched battle, but at the same time, both sides were reluctant to commit themselves.

The Germans knew that they could not take on the much larger British Grand Fleet, while the British knew they had little to gain from a victory and everything to lose by a defeat. Victory over the German High Seas Fleet would not harm Germany’s war effort in the slightest, whilst defeat - unlikely but possible - would cause Britain to lose the war.

The German High Seas Fleet, commanded by Admiral Reinhard von Scheer, planned to avoid an all-out battle until they could sink enough British warships to make the numbers more even. To this end, the German battlecruisers carried out numerous attacks on British coastal towns to lure Royal Navy battleships out to sea where they could be sunk by waiting German submarines.

By May 1916, Admiral Scheer decided to put the entire German High Seas Fleet to sea with the intention of sending ahead the German battlecruiser squadron under Admiral Hipper as a decoy to lure out the British battlecruisers. Hipper would then lead the British battlecruisers straight toward the might of the German battleships.

However, unknown to Scheer, the British were able to decode German radio messages and, sensing German action, Admiral Jellicoe ordered the entire British Grand Fleet to sea at night to avoid the patrolling German submarines.

On May 31st 1916, the two most powerful naval forces were on a collision course with each other, but incredibly, neither knew each other was at sea! The two fleets would spectacularly collide off the mainland of Denmark - the stage for the Battle of Jutland had been set.

Visual contact was first made by the battlecruiser squadrons of both sides, sent ahead of the main fleets by their British and German commanders. Hipper turned around and lured the British battlecruisers, commanded by Admiral Beatty, toward the unseen but advancing main German battleship fleet.

Beatty’s battlecruisers suffered losses but he saw the German High Seas Fleet approaching in the distance and turned his battlecruisers around. The entire German fleet chased the British battlecruisers not realizing that Beatty had now turned the tables and was leading them towards Jellicoe and the massed guns of the main British fleet.

Facing almost certain destruction, Admiral Scheer carried out a brilliant maneuver. He ordered the entire German fleet to turn at the same time, making smoke to conceal their whereabouts and sail at full speed in the opposite direction away from the British guns.

Unbelievably, Scheer turned back toward the British Grand Fleet and this time Jellicoe was able to “cross the German T”, concentrating nearly all the British gunfire on a single advancing line of German battleships.

This time, turning alone would not save Scheer. As a desperate gamble he ordered a mass torpedo attack on the British fleet by his remaining destroyers.

Admiral Jellicoe now had his chance to destroy the German High Seas Fleet but instead he made the decision to turn away from the retreating Germans. He mistakenly believed that the Germans had developed a torpedo that left no trail of bubbles as it travelled through the water, and so was invisible.

Jellicoe was later heavily criticized for this action but the British Grand Fleet had already suffered many losses and the Germans had been routed. Facing the German torpedoes and further losses was a risk Jellicoe did not need to take.

The First Sea Lord Winston Churchill had famously remarked that Jellicoe was “the only commander on either side capable of losing the war in a single afternoon.” By turning away at the Battle of Jutland, Admiral Jellicoe ensured that Churchill’s remark didn’t turn into prophecy.

Davao’s Blast: A Work of Terror?

Filed under: World Of Entertainment — @ 3:42 pm

This article gives some speculations on the recent bombing in Davao City. It also details the activities conducted by the City government of Davao and the reactions the blast caused.
Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte angrily remarked that he could not promise to restore back the peace the city once kept. He claimed however that it would be a hell for the criminal elements and perpetrators. He appears sure in his allegation that the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) group, a Muslim secessionist movement operating in Mindanao, perpetrated the bombing. The police authorities in Davao City have detained several individuals for questioning while formally lodging a case to Hashim Salamat and other key officials of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). Duterte even proclaimed an all-out war to the group. After the blast, he urged Philippine key officials like Defense Secretary Angelo Reyes, Interior Secretary Jose Lina and national police chief Hermogenes Ebdane to cease talks with the MILF and impose martial law in the south.

Because of the bombing incident, Duterte is encouraging authorities to conduct warrantless arrest on the MILF suspects in Davao City. Before this call was made, the Crimininal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) detained Terso Sudang, the father of the alleged bomber, and Kabacan, Cotabato Barangay Captain Muntazer Sudang for questioning. They were later charged along with Salamat and other key leaders of the MILF. Duterte saw this as lawful and even called on his critics for a debate on this issue. He feels confident that having served the Prosecution office for 11 years has given him the wisdom on this issue. This would allow them to arrest even the leaders of the MILF if they step on the Davao territory. They knew Duterte is sincere in this gesture. This made them to move out of their stations to a much safer place.

Why in Davao? Dabawenyos dismissed the claim of the Abu Sayyaf to be responsible for the bombing. Not only the Mayor is pointing finger at the MILF but also the Dabawenyos. It is interesting to note that the event happened after Mayor Duterte and the MILF group made an agreement to spare Davao City from its all-out war against the government of Arroyo. The families of Salamat reside in Davao too. Salamat also frequents Davao and it is Duterte who even personally have entertained him during his stays in the city.

The decade of peace in Davao City was definitely a result of the “iron” fist of Duterte. He personally sends criminals to jail. He is best known as the “Dirty Harry” or the “Executioner” of Davao. His critics always identify him to be the “brain” behind the series of assassinations of drug pushers (even including minors) and criminal syndicates roaming in the city. While he earned the respects of the lumads (natives), Christians and Muslims in Davao City, criminals mostly feared him.

Duterte was seen as a good balancer. He knows how to position himself in the limelight while answering the bickering of his critics. Both Christians and Muslims alike love him. But like other heroes he also has an Achilles heel. Duterte is identified with the Arroyo administration. The President is an admirer of the mayor who did manage to root out the drug and criminality problems of the City. This was further known when the President requested invited to become the secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG). At the same time, both Arroyo and Duterte are under the same political party, Lakas-NUCD. In a crisis “crisis manager.”

Days before the incident, Duterte had premonitions something bad would happen to Davao. He admitted that there is no foolproof security against terrorism especially the wide area of Davao. He was not wrong when he claimed that a determined, well-organized and well-funded terrorist group can bide its time, pick its target and strike when and where least expected. Duterte now faces another crucial problem in the city. He became more vocal in his allegations that MILF was behind the blast. Aside from the fact that one of those killed in the blast was Sudang who apparently joined the MILF at age of 16 and has connections with a certain Jibran Ali Bin Davao, the head of the Davao-area MILF Unit. Also, the pipe bomb used by Sudang is a forte of the MILF. The group’s members were also believed to be staging series of bombings to the power lines in Iligan prior to the blast in retaliation to the death of more than 200 MILF soldiers when the government stormed a camp they occupied in Cotabato. The government believed that the camp has also been utilized as a training camp for bandit groups.

Duterte personally directed the authorities to file multiple charges against Salamat and the rest of the suspects. He called on Salamat who are believed to be in hiding to give in the planners and that he could personally execute them if Salamat could not do so. At the same time, more Dabawenyos heed to the call of the government for alsa (uprising). More than a decade ago, the same concept became prevalent in Davao. It was basically the civil society’s uprising and taking of arms against the “sparrows” (communist guerillas). Although it brought forth a new era of human rights violations issues, the movement became phenomenal. It contributed to the relative peace enjoyed by the Dabawenyos.

This particular move by the city government carries a lot of implications for Muslim residents in Davao City. A growing speculation looms again in Davao that the movement would create more militants and vigilante groups. If the Alsa Masa is for the guerillas, there is even a greater tension that it would be perpetrated against Muslim individuals. All of the members of the MILF are Moslems. In this case, there could be a tendency for anarchy and civil unrest in Davao City if this happens. There is a danger of a renewed animosity between Christians and Muslims in the City. The local government assured that the “bannersEand call for uprising mainly suggest the collective response to the bombing at the Davao international Airport. Mayor Duterte also made an assurance that he would protect the “innocent Muslims just as he protects innocent Christians.E

There are many speculations that surround the bombing incident in Davao. The first assumption is that the act is part of the retaliatory acts by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) to the recent deployment of American forces in Basilan. This is one of the things the group feared since it would eventually strengthen the military capabilities of the Philippine government. The group has been vocal strongly condemned the intervention made by the United States, more so with the sending of its troops in the region. It could be noted that the identification of Philippine government with the United States created the caution among the Moslems in Mindanao. This is aside from the fact that the Philippine government entered into an agreement with Australia in order to solve the terrorism problems in the region.

One idea traces back to the group’s objective shifting from “negotiating” to “destabilizing” and “humiliating” the Arroyo government. The group has been a witness to what happened to the Moro National Liberation Front (MLF). It views earlier efforts by the previous group to be useless especially when it just ended up MNLF’s key leader, Nur Misuari, to be charged with corruption and mismanagement of government funds. This time they become paranoid to any government negotiations.

Some analysts consider the blast to be a mere reflection of the restlessness of the group to be fatalistic in its attitude that the only way to solve the problem is to sow pockets of terror. It is a result of the never-ending anxiety of the minorities triggered by the mindset of “Islamism,” which allegedly utilize the use of force as way of life and religion and even achieving the promise heaven.

Computer Skills: Which Ones Your Staff Needs

Filed under: University Of Technology — @ 12:09 pm

Don’t worry too much if you lack advanced technical computer skills. A lot of that can be remedied by just putting in a little bit of time each week in doing some self-study. In this article, you’ll learn which computer skills are necessary to serve your sweet spot small business clients.

If It Works, Break It
You can do something as simple as getting a not-for-resale (NFR) copy of a product that you want to sell, install, and support and then working with the product in your lab. When you or one of your lead technicians or engineers has a spare half-hour to an hour, you can walk through the basic installations. Then, deliberately break the lab installations. Next, reinstall the software until you get more comfortable with the package.

Most of these products that you’ll be installing for small businesses are very mature technologies. They’re very wizard-driven, and at least for plain-vanilla configurations, they don’t require tremendous levels of computer skills.

Installations Are Easier Now
Years ago, it was much more difficult to install the Novell small business suite or IBM equivalent, or the original 1997 Microsoft Small Business Server. But all of these companies, especially Microsoft, put a lot of money into making it easier for people who don’t have advanced IT backgrounds and networking computer skills to install their small business server application suites.

In terms of your technical computer skills to service sweet spot clients, your staff needs to:
1. have good strong PC hardware skills
2. be able to handle a peer-to-peer setup
3. understand what TCP/IP is all about
4. know what POP3 and SMTP are
5. know how to work with basic SOHO routers

If your staff possesses the above skills, you’re definitely at a good starting point to get started with at least the smaller sweet spot small businesses (10-20 PCs).

Share the knowledge among your employees
Make sure your staff members cross-train each other and you. This way, no one’s ever “too knowledgeable” to the point where they can blackmail you, extract huge raises or huge bonuses, or walk away with your client base. You have to make sure your company’s internal know-how or intellectual capital can’t just get up and walk out the door to your biggest competitor.

The Bottom Line about Computer Skills
In this article you’ve learned about which technical computer skills are necessary to service your sweet spot clients.

Acne Prevention and Effective Remedies

Your granny might have told you about the rigorous life-style she stood by to keep acne at bay. She might also have some acne prevention tips to give you if she notices an acne or two - ‘go for natural cleansing diets minus spices,’ ‘have plenty of water,’ ‘take out time for regular skin-care,’ so on and so forth. Following these acne prevention tips definitely renders your skin excellent service - removing acne, preventing further attacks and scar formation.

It is not necessary, however, that the bitter acne-episode of your life will come to such an easy and rapid ending. In many cases, acne returns with increased severity. Actually, the hullabaloo surrounding acne prevention was based on a vague understanding of the acne condition. However, clogging of skin pores, overactive sebaceous glands, hormonal activity and a range of different factors have been associated with acne, with each factor perpetrating acne in different age groups and under different conditions.

With seemingly no escape from acne, the best way to handle your acne will be to go for a safe treatment as soon as they put up their first appearance. With hosts of available remedies like home treatments, topical treatments, hormone therapies and many non-prescription drugs, peels and lotions, your chances of shedding the acne-scale is nearly hundred percent. The advanced scar treatments and a little patience will be enough to take care of your acne scar before it starts bothering you.

If you want to see some real magic - not acne prevention but acne (along with scars) vanishing in just 2-3 days - you can try the TCA or Trichloroacetic Acid Skin Peel. Certified as ’safe and most effective’ among peels by the medical fraternity, the effect of the TCA peels last for about 6 months. Recommended for adult acne, TCA peels tighten sagging skin to give you a fresh, young look too. Tca Peels have been proven to eliminate all acne causing bacteria, change skin pH so acne is less likely to form, and greatly improve or erase old acne scars.

Acne prevention might not always be possible for you, but preventing the acne condition from further deteriorating is something, which you always can! The best tip that will surely prevent acne from spreading is restraining yourself from squeezing or picking at the acne lesions.

How to Get the Most Savings from Student Loan Consolidation

Filed under: Payday Loan Infos — @ 11:45 pm

The goal of student loan consolidating is to improve your overall financial picture; whether that means lowering monthly payments, improving a credit score, or reducing debt to income ratio. Student loan consolidating packages offer some of the best money-saving incentives in the loan industry.Understanding how these different incentives affect your repayment can help you to make a smart choice when it comes to student loan consolidating.

The Effect of Interest Rate on Student Loan Consolidating

This tiny little number has the largest overall financial impact in regard to the total amount you will spend to repay your student loan. Even a fraction of a percentage point can equate to thousands of dollars over the lifetime of a loan. Advertised base interest rates for student loan consolidating are similar from one company to the next. Your due diligence in shopping for a lender to handle your student loan consolidating will truly pay off when you begin to compare interest rate reduction opportunities.

Interest Rate Reductions

Interest rate reductions are money saving incentives offered by companies that specialize in student loan consolidating. Not every lender offers interest rate reductions, and those who do offer a broad range of percentage savings. With a little research, you can find lenders offering total interest rate reductions of up to 1.5%.

On Time Payments Interest Rate Reduction
If you’re planning on making your payments on time anyway, why not be rewarded? Some lenders offer interest rate reductions just for making on-time payments. Some lenders such as ScholarPoint offer a reduction of up to one full percentage point after only 24 months of on-time payments.

Be conscious of the number of months the lender requires before qualifying for this discount. A reduction applied after 36 months into your loan as opposed to 24 months means you’ll be paying higher rates than necessary for one full year.

Auto Pay Interest Rate Reduction
Because payments made on time are so important, some lenders will reward you with an interest rate reduction simply for having your payments automatically deducted from your account each month.

Many lenders and government programs offer reductions at a rate of 0.25%. However, with a little research, you can find auto-pay interest rate reductions of up to a full 0.5%. For the borrower, this is a triple win. It means less paperwork, no worries about late payments, and a significant amount of savings over the course of the loan period.

Principal Reductions

A principal reduction is when the lender handling your student loan consolidating subtracts a fixed percentage off of your loan balance. Each lender offers different guidelines for qualifying for their principal reduction benefit. The most common incentive offered is for completing a set number of consecutive on-time payments.

Principal reductions differ from interest rate reductions in that the savings is applied to the remaining balance on your loan but does not affect the interest rate at which you will pay off the balance. While principal reductions may initially seem like a larger savings, you could pay more than if you had chosen a lender offering a seemingly small interest rate reduction.

Cash Back Programs

Cash back programs are exactly as they sound. After a certain number of consecutive on-time repayments, usually 33 months, some student loan consolidating companies will return up to 1% of your original loan and credit this to your remaining balance. When a cash back incentive is applied, money is actually deducted from the remaining balance after meeting the guidelines of your student loan consolidating lender. For example, after qualifying for a 1% cash back incentive on your $30,000 loan, your current balance would be reduced by $300.

Choosing a Company to Handle your Student Loan Consolidating

Many of the incentives offered are rewards for favorable repayment behavior and are presented through different types of savings packages. Using a Student Loan Consolidating Calculator online can help you calculate the potential savings of your options.

By comparing the options and savings incentives of different student loan consolidating lenders before making a decision you can save thousands of dollars over the course of your repayment term.

Storing your stem cell - stemcellstorage.org.uk

Filed under: Health Info, Kids, Medical Stuff — @ 8:54 pm

The method know as three dimensional ultrasound scanning is used when a woman is in early pregnancy, it provides 3d images of the unborn child. Most times these ultrasound samples are quickly collected and joined together and animated to produce a 4d ultrasound scan.

Three dimensional scans works in the same manner to the normal ultrasound methods except that the ultrasound waves can be sent from many directions. The ultrasound waves can be reflected back then captured to provide information to construct a 3d picture in very much the same way as 3d movies. 3 dimesional ultrasound was started by stephen smith and olaf von ramm.

It’s important to understand that sonologists around the world have always pictured three-dimensional images of anatomy or pathology in their minds while carrying out 2d scans. However, until recently it was almost impossibel to do this type of reconstruction on patient data acquired using ultasound scanning. The advent of baby scans for the first time allowed us a view into the brain of a sonologist and hence letting us see the images on the ultrasound machine.

3d imaging should utilize ultrasound energy following the same limits as conventional 2d ultrasound to create the 3d images. While there is no information of harm due to 3d ultrasound, its use in none essential situations should be undertaken with an understanding of the risks.

Please remember to bank your babies umbilical cord blood cells by using people such as virgin health bank.

How to be wise in borrowing?

Filed under: Lifestyle Infos — @ 4:59 pm

This article briefly summerizes pitfalls of borrowing.
Want to buy those great shoes but just dont have the cash? No problem just charge it. Want to buy a home but dont have the cash? No problem - just charge it. Recognizing that the single largest impediment for most prospective home-purchasers is lack of a down payment, FT Mortgage has come up with The Down payment Card.

Mortgage borrowers can use this Visa card issued by FT Mortgage to make a down payment of 3 to 5 percent. They then get a loan for 95 to 97 percent of the purchase price. The mortgage loan plus the down payment from the Visa card equals 100 percent financing. The card carries an introductory rate for six months. And once escrow is closed, the borrower can use it like any other Visa card.

In theory, it works. It allows someone who has no cash to buy a home. But just because it makes it possible to buy a home this way does not mean its a wise thing to do. The buyer ends up with very little equity in his new home (only 3 to 5 percent) and some very large monthly payments. He will not only be paying his mortgage, but he also has a new credit card with a hefty balance.

Remember that the Visa cards introductory rate only lasts for six months. So those monthly payments will go even higher. And the new homeowner can now use that card to rack up more purchases the new home will inevitably need new drapes, carpets, dishes, etc., thereby increasing his debt even further.

This situation is a bankers dream and a borrowers nightmare. The bank knows that borrowers are loath to default on their home loans. So most likely the mortgage will be paid in a timely manner. But when cash runs short, borrowers will only make minimal payments on the Visa card. The balance on this high rate card will continue to snowball and the lender will make a large profit off the Visas high interest rate.

Borrowers should think long and hard about the real cost of this loan product. The credit may be easy to get, but very difficult to live with.Visit http://venturemall.tripod.com to find real estate solutions.

Pet Flea Control

Filed under: Animal Care — @ 4:29 pm

Summary Review of Controlling Fleas and Ticks with Pets

Fleas are the most common external parasite of pets in North America. Fleas are small wingless insects that use their specialized mouth to pierce the skin and siphon blood from their host. When a flea bites, it injects a small amount of saliva into the skin to prevent the blood from coagulating. Some animals become sensitized to flea saliva and animals that are allergic can have severe itching and scratching from a single bite. Flea allergy dermatitis is the most common disease among dogs.

Current flea control products are primarily either oral or topical systemic treatments. Most of the products may be used for prevention as well as to treat existing flea problems. One group of products control fleas by interrupting their development by killing or stopping the maturation of flea larvae and eggs. These drugs are called Insect Growth Regulators (IGRs). One common oral product used is lufenuron which is found in the Program® line of products which are administered orally in tablet or liquid form. Methoprene and pyriproxifen are also IGRs that are available as sprays or collars. The FDA shares regulation of these products with the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Because even the same products from other countries have not been approved by these agencies, it is illegal to purchase or import these products for use in the United States.

Currently the most popular flea control products kill adult fleas (adulticide), are applied topically and work rapidly. Popular topical products utilize fipronil which is the key ingredient in Frontline® Top Spot and imidacloprid which is in Advantage®. The most popular product on the market, Frontline Plus®, utilizes both an adulticide and an IGR. An oral adulticide that is also available is nitenpyram which is in Capstar® and begins to kill fleas in 30 minutes. Frontline Plus also kills ticks which makes it the most popular product where ongoing tick protection is required.

Consult with your veterinarian to determine which flea and tick control products are best for you. The choice of flea control will depend on your climate, environment, your pet’s activities, and potential for exposure. However, with consistent use, it is almost always possible to control your flea problem. Using these products throughout the year typically will eliminate the need for regular insecticidal use. The following provide additional summary information on selected popular products.

Program from Novartis®

Program is available as a once a month pill or oral liquid suspension to be given with a full meal. Adult fleas that ingest Program’s key ingredient, lufenuron, produce sterile eggs. Program does not kill adult fleas so pets remain susceptible to fleas hatching and maturing pupa already present in the environment. Therefore, some time may pass before the all fleas are killed in an environment. In order to stop the life cycle, every animal in the environment must receive lufenuron. Pets should also be sprayed with an adulticide during the first week or two of starting Program.

Advantage from Bayer®

Advantage is applied topically on both dogs and cats and seems to be very well-tolerated by sensitive cats. Advantage kills fleas within 24 hours and 100% protection can be maintained for cats for 21 days and 90% protection can be maintained for dogs for 28 days. Advantage is susceptible to washing off so dogs that are active outdoors and dogs that swim or must be bathed frequently should be re-treated frequently. Up to weekly re-treatment is allowed. The imidacloprid in Advantage does not effect ticks, but K-9Advantix, with permethrin does. K9 Advantix is only labeled for once a month K9 Advantix is ONLY FOR USE WITH DOGS and MUST NOT BE ADMINISTERED TO CATS.

Frontline Spray, Frontline Plus And Frontline Top Spot from Merial®

Frontline Spray, Frontline Plus, and Frontline Top Spot comprise the market leading Frontline flea control product line. The fipronil in Frontline products is a broad spectrum insecticide available as a spray or topical. Fipronil works by binding chemically to the pet’s hair and is absorbed through the follicle by the sebaceous glands. As a spray, fipronil kills fleas at 95% for over 80 days after application on dogs and for 1 month with biweekly bathing. Frontline is labeled for puppies and kittens as young as 8 weeks (10 weeks for Top Spot) and it is not washed off by bathing. Frontline is also affective against ticks. Some cats may show minor adverse reactions with high volume use of the alcohol based spray product which should be applied no more than once a month. Frontline Plus also contains the IGR, S-methoprene which inhibits the growth of immature fleas.

Capstar from Novartis®

Capstar is an oral tablet for dogs and cats that may be administered as young as 4 weeks of age. It offers extremely rapid and complete killing of adult fleas and is safe enough that the tablets may be used whenever fleas are seen on your pet as often as once per day. Capstar may be used in combination with an IGR to kill fleas immediately to compliment the long-term control of an IGR such as Program.

The Lucrative Power of the Digital Era - Info Marketing

Filed under: Commerce Marketing — @ 5:24 am

There are certain things we need in life that must be bought and replenished time after time - toothpaste, guitar strings, food (a personal shopping list of mine). Food goes off. Eventually it starts to grow mould and becomes stale with a disposable future. Information is the same - leave it long enough and it becomes outdated and you need to get a fresh replacement. In a book store, the paper becomes encrusted with yesterday’s news, but online authors are keeping up with their niche and its changes thanks to the one-click science of internet commerce. You can take advantage of this industry and its replenishable product nature.

People seem to think this is obvious though, and it is to a certain extent. What marketers don’t realize is you can tell people what they want to buy in the info industry. There will be home buyers out there that don’t even think about “buying for only $1-10 down with no credit checks”. Similarly there will be home buyers who don’t know how to save $13,000 in fees. There is hot-selling information about these on the internet. In the book stores though? Zip. Who would spend months writing a book, spend even longer getting it produced and distributed only to find the information went out of date a month ago? Only the digital info space can give birth to such impulse creations and have them selling within days.

One very effective method of affiliate marketing is not found online, but in the offline world, locally. See, everyone is offline all the time, but only a relative handful are online, and certainly not all the time. This is where the new, fresh digital era of information appeals to the niche markets - offline exposure reaches people that are new to all this; people that perhaps never even considered buying an e-book on their favourite passtime or a problem that they want a solution to.

A digital information product to the offline world is like what digital news is to the newspaper - more choice, less waste, instant delivery, ease of use, multimedia extensions and so forth. People seem to be taking well to the digital revolution and this in itself is an attraction - to be part of it. You, as a marketer can exploit this - “why read pages of text when you can watch step-by-step videos?”. The instant “update factor” of downloadable info products is also very attractive to buyers. Updates are usually given free to digital product owners, meaning they get more value for their money. Again, as an affiliate marketer, you can cash in on this innate benefit within the nature of this industry.

Highlight how responsive these digital products are to the world changing around us, how instant and efficient they are, and how there are things you can find in Clickbank’s library that would never appear in your local book stores (for one because there isn’t enough room). Go to offline shows, events and seminars in your chosen niche to promote these beneficial digital gems to the offline world. Use those classified ads to pull people online, for a change, through your link.

Marketers underestimate the info product industry believing it’s just some craze of sorts. The truth is, it’s still young and fresh and as long as there are authors to churn out the goods, people will start to realize there is no more effective way to get such presently relevent information out there.

One day, only fiction will occupy the paper book shelves.
